Blogging Hell!

I haven’t written a blog since 2021!

And I wrote six in 2020 - clearly there was something to write about, but on reflection, and given the amount of time at home that we all had, I should have written ten times that number.
So let’s be casual and label this the inaugural revitalisation-slash-resurrection of the Success Coaching blog. How does that sound?
I’m going to write off the cuff. No AI input whatsoever, because then this blog would just read like all the LinkedIn articles that everyone is “writing”. I mean, the content is of course different, but the style and tone are all the same. It doesn’t matter whether the author is using AI to originate or edit the comms; it all just falls into the same familiar em-dash pit.
I caught myself saying that I’m so tired of reading AI-produced and AI-corrected content that I’m yearning for bad grammar and spelling mistakes, but that’s not really true - I want quality output that feels human… and I’m now perhaps a little more forgiving when it comes to the quality of one’s writing.
So, with that out of the way, what are we left with?
A million plus a million things, all of a personal and professional growth nature, because we are, after all, a coaching business and we should show up as such. That being said, I did describe Success Coaching as unconventional and provocative the other day. This was at a business meet-up where I introduced myself and the business with, “Tell me about your sex life and I’ll tell you about your life.”
Besides this being true (the one represents the other), it’s also edgy and, no matter which way I swing it (I can say it the other way around too), it makes people feel uncomfortable… especially when I keep a deadpan face and go silent after piercing that veil of consciousness. It is not only an effective nudge to open up a conversation; it’s also a wake-up call to anyone thinking that a coaching conversation is going to be nice, easy, and comfortable.
Coaching is one of the most challenging commitments a person can make. It has you face your fears, question your beliefs, and speak your truth - not the everyday canteen conversation at the office. But you know this; I’m preaching to the converted. So why is it still uncomfortable?
Well, that’s because this growth journey is a bumpy one. It’s rarely a straight line and it’s never without some kind of turbulence. Also, we mostly grow through challenges, not by way of the easy road, so a coaching conversation should not be a walk in the park, but rather a journey of exploration, insight, and action.
It feels like we’re getting serious here. Well, personal evolution is serious, but we can certainly have some fun along the way. I’ll find my voice in this blog the more I write, but in the meantime, I’m just going to approach it with a view to offering value to anyone who has an interest in becoming a better version of themselves, be that for personal reasons or perhaps to drive other areas of life, like business.
If you have any questions or subject ideas that you’d like to see here, please add them to the comments and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
See you soon, Jason
